Egon Schiele pushed a lot of buttons.

He lived from 1890 - 1918 and died during the Spanish Flu pandemic. His paintings explored sexuality in a way that was taboo at the time and his own sexual life was, and still is, controversial. He was caught trying to be intimate with his sister a number of times. He also had a female lover at one point who was beneath his class. They were run out of his hometown because the troubled youth of the area were drawn to his house. Specifically, a young girl ran away and was found posing for his paintings. He eventually married a woman named Edith Harms because she was more socially acceptable. Edith and Schiele both died a few years after their marriage from the Spanish Flu. Edith was pregnant at the time.

SchieleĀ  was influenced by Klimt and other expressionists but developed his own style of representing the human form, primarily in nudes. His nudes are emaciated with elongated limbs and fingers and people thought they were too sexual and weird. They are kind of weird but I really like them..
