Renewable Energy
There is no sector to climate change response more controversial than renewable energy and for good reason. Many of the technologies are new and poorly understood. So when it comes to "green" energy, we have to be careful to understand each step of the process. Many new technologies are being considered "green" when they actually make climate change worse. This is called "green-washing" and it is most common in the sector of renewable energy sources. If you're using an electric car, but the electricity is coming from burning coal in someone else's state, or from a hydro-electric dam that displaces low-income people, it's not a real solution. If you're burning "biomass" which is actually coming from the destruction of wetlands, you're part of the problem. In this section, you'll find articles that discuss different types of renewable energy.
